This summer season we aim to get our regenerative divers in action by demonstrating and engaging in their commitment to the project and their kaitiakitanga of the sea. During these dives they will take part in monitoring caulerpa - actively looking and checking the sea bed, documenting underwater observations of tāonga species like our kōura, tīpu, kutai and pāua. There will also be safe and respectful removal of kina from monitored sights to continue the ongoing mahi of Kelp Gardeners. These dives will also involve the honing of survey techniques while diving and engage in cleaning the sea floor and inner reefs of any material that is not meant to be there.
