Overview
Waiheke Marine Project is a collaborative manawhenua and community led partnership that seeks to restore the marine environment around Te Motu Ārai Roa, Waiheke Island through regenerative action based projects. The Kelp Gardeners Project aims to restore the balance in the ecosystem at Enclosure Bay through respectful kina removals from a Te Ao Māori perspective.

Specifications
When you come to join a Kelp Gardeners day, you will get to experience the beauty that is Waiheke Island whilst contributing to a positive regenerative action. We work with our dive partner EPIC Scuba to provide all the equipment needed to come out snorkeling or scuba diving in Enclosure Bay to respectfully remove kina. Your team will contribute to our ongoing data collection. The kina you collect will be shared with yourselves, whānau and community. You’ll get to work alongside WMP members as they guide and teach you about the history of the place, kaupapa of the project, and the mātauranga that is interwoven.
What is included?
Each package deal includes all equipment, transportation once on the island, water/land health and safety and post dive tea and coffee beverages!
Package Deals
As per our dive providers guidelines the base Health and Safety ratio is eight participants to one staff member. We can happily accommodate larger group sizes with appropriate resources to make it work.
